So my pheasants finally hatched but as I tried to take a picture of them, Momma hen-the not-yet OK with the fact that her chicks are independent and no longer need her-rushed towards them as soon as she heard the first pip. She assumed the role she loves the most, being a momma, so all tucked under her wings, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the pheasants except for this...

So instead, I got a friendly and welcoming call from this cute little trio of cuties...

I have 8 eggs under broodies that will probably hatch in the next week. I dont know the actual set date. 2 have been cracked(we put duct tape on the first one then nail polish on the second) but when we candled a few days ago they were both still moving. The parents can range from(if I have there colors right) blue, grey, ginger red, partridge, splash and the showgirl may be salmon in color. I have no idea what we will get but it should be fun and im excited to be a great grandmother haha. The parents other that the showgirl and splash came from partridge, buff and splash. What is your guesses for what we may hatch? Im not sure if the showgirl roo has done his job or not so it'll be a nice surpirse to have one hatch.

Beautiful family! That would have made an excellent family shot if you had been in it. :) Your girls are beautiful and your chicks are cute!

Very cute!!! I would have loved to have seen a newly hatched pheasant.

Hova-bator 1588! Genesis!
So funny-- if I get more serious about hatching than I am now, the Genesis 1588 will be my next incubator/hatcher! Soooooo many people I know have the same Brinsea I have (Oct 20) and then use the 1588 as their hatcher! It sounds like a great combination to me! :) Do you have the turners in yours?

I had a chick this color and it turned out like this:

That's interesting. Out of the 6 chicks that I had, 2 started out black, one was that little grey. There were 2 chipmunks and one that was kinda like an odd blackish/brownish with some yellow and ligher colors around it's beak and eyes. That little guy turned out almost white with some black/grey on his wings and tail, sort of like a splash. I have 2 black hens left, guessing they were the 2 black chicks. I ended up with a really dark rooster with some grey on it's neck so I suppose he would almost be considered a grey? I have the grey hen which I thought was the little grey chick. Who am I missing..? Oh, Marble who was said to look something like a grey partridge. Maybe the grey rooster was the really dark rooster then..?

Love your bird! :D
