Silkie thread!

Here's some photos of my pretty splash girls. They're just a little over 4 months. I guess they are keepers so I'll have to name them.

I hope they don't crow!

Oh peep, I hope my Silkie looks like this when grown up..as a girl. :p

hey everyone my 1 silkie looks like a paint silkie its wing has white and black in it and it has pure black feathers in its tail and 1 spot on its wing
my guess is paint x lavender cause some spots his feathers are lavender

Hi all, thinking of getting silkies and I'm wondering if they need special care because of they're feathers covering there face and eyes

Can anyone show me the difference between a paint and a splash silkie? I have a chick that came in an order of blue silkies that looks splash and then bought some that started off white but now are feathering in with color and look completely different pattern wise then the first one! My camera ate poo and i don't have the money to buy a new one! Just curious!

OH and Blackie finally got his crow on about a week ago and and as of yesterday when i went out for morning feeding is doing the deed and a natural! LOL! He is such a sweet heart, not a mean little Brat like other breeds when they hit puberty!

Hi y'all! I'm enjoying all the pictures...so many beautiful birds out there, makes me want to get more silkies and it also makes me appreciate my big girls too. I have been paying too much attention to the chicks.

The Flock...missing a few girls that took the day off!

And my little princess.

There will be a chicken swap in Lincoln May 5th at Aubuchons Hardware store,I am bringing silkies.

@sanna ...She is a sweety.I got her from a hatchery. She was with a few others in a wire cage and i asked whats wrong with these? She said they were much older and she would sell them to me for a good price if I wanted them.So I ended up with all in the pen.To be honest I did not think she would be able to raise any more babies, but here we are....she even has a few adopted eggs I put under her that have hatched.

I just had my first silkie hatch last night from my fourth batch. I wasn't expecting any pips until tonight so it was a pleasant surprise. It was a little paint from CJ. But she has six toes! Ugh. Also they look a little curled. I am going to see how she looks this afternoon and whether I should make shoes for her feet to straighten them.

So the early hatch and the curled toes makes me wonder if my temp was off and a bit too high? When I went into lockdown Monday afternoon, I had 25 alive embryos. Please keep your fingers crossed for me! I see one more pip and am hoping for a lot more tonight and tomorrow.

ETA because she died right after I wrote this :(

Wow, a picture can sure distort the way we see things! This bird absolutely does NOT look like a boy here! I think you're safe.

Before, it was the look of the tail, the stance and the wings that made me think boy. I love the coloring on this bird! Do you think this Splash is silver based or Gold? It sure looks like a brighter/whiter splash which is so pretty! ...or is that the way the photo makes it look? LOL

They are both almost white based. One has darker spots than the other. The boys that I sold were pale blue based. I prefer the white base also but the standard calls for pale blue, I believe.
