Silkie thread!

thanks guys for the input... ooo now i'm worried i got 3 roos and 1 pullet... scared it would be just my luck .... well let me post some pictures and hear what you think ....

first runner... is peaches... which i'm starting to think is a roo just cause well i'm paranoid lol ... she/ he is 4 weeks and a little under 2 weeks ....she acts really henish... attached to my nugget who is 5 montsh 2 weeks and laying... she/he does peck at the younger one (my pastries) but i figured since she is at the lower part of the pecking order amongst my older girls i figured she was trying to put them in their place.. (but heck what do i know)

she's a sweetheart loves to be picked up... i've noticed she/he has new feathers coming in... so i expect her to puff out in the next couple of week like my nugget did...
hmm.png
she may not be show quality in the long runjust hope she's a she ...

and now for my younger ones ...the pastries... i tried to get as close up to their combs as possible...they are at the squirmish side right now soo i did my best....
heres muffin... the only one i'm not concerned cause she is usually off by herself and not caring to play fight .... they are all
2 MONTHS & A LITTLE SHY OF 2 WEEK

its a little hard to make out her comb cause well its black and she is the squrimiest out of the bunch.

biscuit

this is biscuit & muffin not wanting to have a thing to do with me

and last but not least STRUDEL the smallest out of the bunch... i worry about her/him and biscuit cause they play fight mostly in the morining after being let out to eat... i hope its just determining who's on top amongst their little flock?
roll.png

and this is a picture of muffin and struedel so you'll can see how small she is incomparison ... she's like half their size alway has been. with her/him looking at her crest she has new feathers coming in as well... she seems to lack crest fullness in comparison to biscuit and muffin but hers in like the longest... hmmm...

again i know its really hard to sex them ... but figured playing the guessing game never hurt anyone....

I'm "guessing" Peaches - boy (looks like streamers coming in and reddish comb), Muffin - girl, Biscuit - ?, and Struddle - boy. Really early on the little ones though.

I actually think that that is a well-sized comb. Not too small and not too big. Comb size affects virility.
Thank you! I had an APA judge him and tell me his comb was on the large side! I think his comb is beautiful-- no funky weird things in it. But I'm learning, so I figured what do I know! I had NO idea that comb size has anything to do with virility! That's good to know!

You can post, ans we'll try to help, but at 3 months it is still iffy. I've had judges mark a cock as a hen; and I am 100% certain that he was a cock--I have offspring from him.

You say that so calmly and matter of factly. But that is HILARIOUS!

I learn something new on here every day!

Me too!!

When I have problems with chicks, I add a strong dose of apple cider vinegar to their water, and it seems to make a big difference. I don;t use organic ACV or the stuff with the mother in it, just plain old grocery store ACV (not the kind that is only flavoured, which is common in paces like Target or Walmart, but that which is made from apples, which is what I find in real grocery stores).
I'll pick up some ACV tomorrow and give it a try! Thank you.

This one looks like a rooster to me with the streamers and the comb & wattles.
Strudel looks like a boy, but the other two look like girls.
Now, don't take my opinion for a fact! I'm fairly new to Silkies myself.

Thank you all so much for your sex id info on my flock!! Why is it that I can do so well on everybody ELSE'S chickies but cannot make up my mind on my own??
I tried to get some better pix of the ones that were questionable. As far as ages go, the buff (Navidad) is 4 months (guess when he hatched out?

) the cuckoos, blue and white ones are all 3 months. Thank you!
