Silkie thread!

Here are pictures in that link for fertile VS non fertile.

What other roosters do you have? or possible boys?

at 4.5 months I highly doubt that suspected boy Peaches is the one fertilizing eggs, I see boys who try to mate that early, but don't 'get the hang of it' or just aren't fertile until alittle later on....BUT stranger things happen - LOL

do you have any older birds that you are iffy about?

Have 2laying girls.... Peaches is the only one.. The others are only 2 1/2 months.... I cracked open one of my ply months and hers too looks exactly like the fiterlized eggs! I put them all back in their pens ... Cant even think of eatting them being vegetarian and all... May just stop eatting eggs all together :/ eww the thought...

Thanks everyone for the compliments of my birds. I love them

I am so happy with this years bunch of my own breeding, bought eggs, and bought birds. I now am faced with how to thin out my beautiful growouts...I went from 50 to 25 that was so tough! lol

and yes that cutie 1st picture is a 2 month old, that bunch hatched Feb 22nd making her 9 weeks I think. Shes a big baby too, the other 3 I got with her are just as big, but shes by far the prettiest of the bunch. lol (shhhh don't tell the others)

Heres pictures of my eye catching boy Sherbert

Oh that Sherb!!! Just gorgeous!!!

Boo I'm sad... The more and more I look at peaches she looks like a Pit (roo)

streamers are becoming more evident... And i've notice a difference in stance...he she holds her wings lower... Is that a typical thing for roosters? Or do some pullets hold their wings low? Now I got to figure out if I wait to hear her crow (get even more attached) or just settle with that she's a he and let her go....

sigh...

My roo didn't crow til he was 10 months and acted very girly till 7 months.

I have always wanted a silkie but it had been more of a dream really but my husband saw her and he said thats the one were having. he doesnt really take much notice of the chickens we have but even he fell in love with her.
Im new to keeping them so i just hope i do the right things.

May i ask what sort of enclosure you keep them in as my other hybrids are in an enclosure which is like a mud bah at the moment so dont want to put them in something like that. Thik i may have to steel a bit more of the garden and make them there own

Mud doesn't go well with feathered feet. I prefer sand.

These are my new silkies......pic 1 maybe a roo, he's very skitish....even runs away from flies! pic 2 is a silkie x lace. pic 3 is 2x silkie hens
Not sure on their ages but 2 of them are laying eggs so I know 2 for definite are girls ;P

He's looking pretty spoiled!!

I love your avatar photo!

Why, thank you! When I first got my hens my boyfriend and I were determined to hold them and we chased them all around their little yard until we each had held every one of them. I wasn't used to holding chickens and couldn't always hold their wings down. I screamed every time they flapped them xD

And yepp, little baby silkie is quite a spoiled little thing :D
