Silkie thread!

I definitely noticed the green. My black silkie has that too. I do not know what caused it but I bet you do.

Indeed I know. This is caused by a melaniser which is a black-pigment intensifier. This is a gene I need for the Silver Quail coloration

Thanks Hawkeye, both are the big sized Silkies, 2 Kg when adult which is at 18 months. The thing I was

was the size of the crest (which in Europe must be medium).
Finaly after 3 years

I breeded the first 3 cockerels with hugh crests (was until now a lethal factor in European male Silkies).

Bravo!!

Still, I can not get over how gorgeous they are! I love that they are the larger birds, too.

Going on the less feetfeathers I say EU Silkies (Germany). For the color I would say lavender (pearl gray) because of the light toe-tips but could also be Splash (double dosis Blue).

Haha thanks again. I suppose these "larger" EU Silkies are almost double size as the US Silkies.
By the way what a very nice strengthened and original artistic chickenhouse you have.
Yes, your birds must be about double! Mine are feather weights. :) Thank you for the compliment on my chicken coop! I worked so long on it, I was tired of working on it!

How did you base your birds off of Silver? Did you just have to start with silver based birds? That seems like a really stupid question, but I've wondered about it!

Zack, these are GREAT pictures you took! You can really see their natural color easily. They look like my splash babies. But I'm probably wrong! ha!

Hey everyone! So I posted some pictures of this chick on here when it was younger, and it was too early to tell. Well this chick is now about 7 weeks and starting to feather out some more

This is my second silkie and my first time raising it from a chick. it's super sweet and doesn't pick on any of the other chicks.
I can't keep any roosters so I really hope it's a girl!
