Silkie thread!

Hi All,

I was curious if anyone would be kind enough to post a template to use to keep records for your birds. I certianly don't want to leave out any important info that I may overlook because I am a novice. I see that there are several experienced bird owners that have alot of experience with silkies that may be willing to share the best way to keep records without omitting info by accident.
I am not totally happy with my form but so far it's working for me. It many not all be self explanatory since I made it for my own use.

I drew my record form up on Corel Draw. It is kind of similar to Peeps, as it has a lot of the same fields, but different in that I layed it out differently and have a couple extra things.

Yeah, I want to go back and tweak mine too. Now that I've been keeping track, there are a couple of things I want to add.

Quote: Neem oil is a very safe and effective natural insecticide. More than jsut a repellant. However, getting neem WITHOUT any other ingredients may be difficult. I'v seen it in garden insecticide peoducts, and would not want to use them on any animal due to their OTHER ingredients. O do know someone who used to be able to find a shampoo with neem oil.

Quote: With SOME birds it works, but not others. It is usually more difficult to find hens that will accept youngsters taht are not theri own. Most of the time roosters are more accepting. The exception is if the youngsters are also male and getting old enough that the rooster may see them as competition.

It is also usually easier to add multiple youngsters all together than just one or two.

I was in Co-op yesterday and they had two little tiny Show girls they were adorable! They were mostly black. I wanted to take them home so bad, but they were on hold for someone. My question is are all Show girls silkies or are there show girls in other breeds? I wouldn't think I would like the naked necks but there's something about them that's irresistible.

Did they look like this?? I hatched these out yesterday. Since you mentioned them~thought I would show them off. I like the ones with muffs too. I have one with both the muff and the bow tie outside. Only one hatched yesterday with a bow tie, no muff..the other has neither. Fun babies.

One is white, I think the other is buff, with the bow tie
Pretty different from the Silkies!

Very Pretty, are you thinking girl? I have a white I can't wait to see at this age. Hope "she" looks as nice!
Yes I have a very strong feeling girl! I hope I am right
