I also have a terrible time understanding these things and I've been trying a long time. This chart will help with the Blue, Black Splash known as BBSI'm a brand newbie, and would find this info helpful also. I bought ebay silkie eggs from someone that is also on here, who I believe has several colors in his pen (although he refuses to answer that or any questions now--wish I had known to ask ahead). Not, understanding what the + sign means, what colors would be the best to keep to get the most out of 2 small pens. Can I keep whites and be OK? Would anyone mind explaining the chart as to what the + sign means? TIA
Sorry, Tina, for butting in on your post.....from another Tina![]()
The way the Blue gene works in a breeding can be broken down as follows:
1) Blue x Blue: This will produce 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash.
2) Black x Blue: Produces 50% black and 50% blue.
3) Black x Splash: You'll get 100% blue.
4) Blue x Splash: Produces 50% blue and 50% splash.
5) Splash x Splash: This will give you 100% Splash.
Not listed is black to black. 100% black
White is best bred to white and buff to buff
