Honestly...they kind of look like silkie mixes to me. I wouldn't call them "ugly" but you are right, they don't look quite silkie perfect. If you can get pictures closer up of each of their faces closer up, that can help determine gender.

The buff in the front left appears to be a roo to me. The others Im not sure of.

thank you i think one is male n one is female, but my god there ugly.... they may be to inbreed. I have 2 wonderful frizzel roos i may n let them breed a couple times n see what the chick look like before i get ride of them. again thanks.

how do i go about attaining quality silkie eggs. do you know a person i can buy from? i really want to try my hand at the show girl creations, i think its turkens crossed with silkies.

There are several breeders who are on here who sell hatching eggs as well as some who do showgirls as well. Yes...turkens x silkie is a showgirl

You can also try eBay for hatching eggs as well.

Mystdogs, don't ya just love a chicken that talks to you?!?! I have a black roo silkie, now 9 weeks old, and if he thinks I have treats, he will follow me all around singing or talking to me. So endearing! I call him Sinatra.

Looking at Bluewhoo's picture, the three buffs look like Silkies to me; the black one some other breed. 4hchickmamma, what are you seeing that I am missing? I agree with Whittni, they do look like hatchery silkies, especially in comparison to some of the wonderful show stock I've seen here. I may be fairly naive, but would the hatchery really sell mixes as Silkies? Thanks for educating me, I appreciate your experience and value your input.

Here are my silkies (9 weeks old today) from McMurrays. It was so hot again today, I had just given them some sweet corn from the fridge. Sorry it is mostly of silkie butts!
