Time for more pictures!

These are my 9 Catdance chicks, about a week old.

My blue hen Lila LOOOOOVED having the chicks all to herself. We have two white hens that hogged 8 of the chicks but kept picking on the little black one. I swear they're being prejudice because of the color!

Lila adopted the black chick and boy is she being a good mom for a first timer!

It's great to see how mother nature works and how the instincts kick in.

Really great photos!!

All right... I have an uber dummy question, but how often does pink skin happen in silkies? One of the chicks that hatched out last night, I just realized today that it has pink toes. All of its skin is also pink. Roger has not thrown that before. SO, I am guessing that the hen and him both have that recessive gene. Any way, how often does this happen and does this mean that this chick will be worthless except as a pet? Is there a chance that the skin will turn black?

So we got a nice little late night suprise last night! Two of the last eggs that the hens wouldn't sit on anymore hatched! I put 5 eggs in the incubator, I'm 99% sure that two won't hatch but I was pretty sure I had seen some movement in the other 3. I was right. We found a little white and a white chipmunk cruising around the incubator.

Now they're out with Mama Lila (the blue hen in previous pictures) and her black chick. The other siblings and their mothers moved outside today.

I couldn't be happier to have another one of these white chipmunks! lol I had onein the first batch of chicks we hatched this year but of course it was accidentally given away with some chicks that were going to a new home. Well, I got another one now. I'm keeping all fingers and toes crossed for a hen.

This little chick had it's own photo shoot today.

The picture on the left here is absolutely my new favorite picture!

And my model fell asleep...

Blue silkies usually have one white toenail and the rest are black, where as black silkies have all black toenails. Also, if it's hard to tell buff and white chicks apart, white silkies feet are all black and buffs feet skin is tan. Hope this helps!

I went outside and found 4 white silkies and one black 1/3 polish 2/3 silkie had hatched! I read on here that silkies are prone to hatching early, and they did indeed, they were supposed to hatch sunday. One egg is left, but I'm not sure if it's going to hatch or not. Either way, this was a nice way to start my day

These are my new babies. From Roger, a black with gold leakage, and a white. Both are bearded...

Its yellow and black...

And the Mama who hatched them is not a silkie...

AND! This is what I found behind the brooder box today when I realized that the silkies were hatching a day early and had to hurry to get them in here and Skeeter back in a different next box with the Aug 25 hatch. SHE WAS SO MAD! Until I put her on her eggs. Well anyway...

They were under a shelf, behind the brooder, between, they had to go around my air compressor, which blocks it pretty good. They had to squeeze between the compressor and the wall! OMG, 3 different chickens eggs here. LOL.

Praying that nothing happens to these ones. I do not think I could handle another devastating loss like last time. 2 more silkie eggs are set to hatch Aug 25. Only, I got them from a guy who also had a show girl roo in his pen. SO who knows what they will look like. All the hens though are white. The roos are black show girl, one calico, one porcelain and one white. SO, we'll see. I just had a hen who was broody, and had just wormed my girls since we had a capillary worm issue... SO, I got 2 eggs. Yup. Just two.

Ok, one more pic
