Silkie thread!

I have to agree - sorry.....

Thanks for looking and for your condolences. I'm going to keep him as long as I can.

Once your eggs hatch you can kiss that incubator bye lol. Your silkies will brood anything you need hatched. Great moms from what I hear too.
I am in agreement with you! My new chicks were hatched by two broody hens 1 week apart. I think the hatch rate is better but I would like to do a study on shipped eggs put in an incubator or under a hen.

I have some new pictures to share

Steve Jr. again
They are all so pretty but I do like the dark head on Phyllis and of course Gretta~My white silkies will never look that good they are free range and get so dirty, haha

Thanks tiki.  I'll prepare for the worst and hope that the behavior might tip the scales in my favor!  ha ha.  Every other chick's appearance matches their behavior except this one.  Her/his behavior is so girlie and so not like the other boys.  At all.  Never stands tall.  Never chest butts.  Is very quiet happy and mellow.   Very different.
Crossing my fingers she has a precocious comb!  :gig

The comb looks like a boy. Sorry :(

Thank you very much! She's certainly not one of the best whites out there, but she is still cute - I mean, what silkie isn't
lol.png

My frizzle silkie is a male. He was completely blue as a chick, so I think that around his neck is just leakage. He could be considered a partridge, I just don't know

Congrats on your new one! Can't wait to see him/her

Thanks Blessedchick! Phyllis is my favourite as well. I think she is one of my best silkies. And I'm like you - a sucker for partridge

Oh and the fuzzy butts
big_smile.png
They belong to my partridge cochin hen.. Well not really 'belong' but she is fostering 7 silkie chicks.

Here are some more fuzzy butts, because I'm a sucker for them as well. Janet (mom) decided to molt while brooding, so ignore her unkempt appearance.

Everyone free ranging. I took down the pen. They had no grass left and that made me sad

Thankfully Steve is staying out of Jagger's way, so there haven't been any issues yet.

Fuzzy butts and pantaloons are sooo cute. I see your trees turning colors and you know it's fall in Canada! Nice pictures.

I took some pictures yesterday of my little silkie flock
smile.png
I merged the 2 month olds with the 5 month olds, and they got along wonderfully, and all snuggle up together at night. Silkies have got to be the most gentle birds to young chicks.

The youngest ones love to hang out in our raised shade plant bed.

I just love this fluffy girl

This one too.

My whole sweet flock together. As you can probably tell, it was windy yesterday lol

This little guy is 1/3 polish, and the rest silkie. His foot feathers are make him look like he has snowshoes

The end

Very cute babies you have there. The white chicks with the Coleus is beautiful.

OK here are the pics of my new catdance babies. I need help with colors since I'm fairly new with baby down colors. What do these look like to you? These are from her lavender project pen. I think lav roo over lav split, buff, porcelain hens. I have more pics but I didn't want to load this down any more than I had to. Let me know if you need more shots of any of the babies. Thanks for any help.

These are from lav pen with black split roo over lav hens. Should be black or lav but I got a weird one here. What do you think?

And this is from a black egg. I have never seen white feet and so much white on a black. His legs are black. What do you make of this?
