Silkie thread!

I have no idea, I have been reading for hours and it seems that lice, and mites can make a chicken not want to stand, along with several other things such as mareks... I am really worried that I will have to put her down... I am very upset, she is one of my favorites!!

Do you bathe your silkies? Brush them... guess what I am asking is how do you groom a silkie to be shown and how do you know they are show quality. I bought some eggs from a show breeder and I have a couple really really long full fluffy silkies that look to me really impressive as they are not scraggly or have thin coats.... they are very thickly feathered and really brightly colored Partridge silkies . My daughter took the lil roo to kindergarten to show him off last wk when they were learning about chickens. If she takes him again I would like to groom him up real nicely.

Is that a homemade incubator?
Yes I mad it from a mini fridge. Used Incubator Warehouse thermostat and 40 was twin bulbs for heating elements. came out pretty good, also put a little giant egg turner in it, still has room for improvment. But not bad, I will go snap a pic and post it.

I got my ideas from others here on this site. don't know why some of the pics loaded up sideways. I spent a pretty penny building it, but its better than store bought in my opinion. last hatch was 25 of 28 eggs, silkie anyways, I have had trouble with other chicks. think it must be my other chickens eggs/fertile.

It will sag with weight between the center post and the outer ones.  Ask me how I KNOW this.
Since no one bit on this - How the heck do you know this ;) lol

Arizona PSHAW.. I have a friend in New Mexico, and she complains about icy roads when there is a very rare dusting of flurries ;) Says schools shut down everywhere. They will only shut down schools here for bad visibility or temperatures that will freeze your skin in 15 minutes.

Here in SC we had maybe 5 or 6 inches of snow one year and school was cancelled for like 3 days. If there is any snow AT ALL, even a tiny bit, we get a delay. We just don't know what to do when we see that rare white cold fluffy stuff
