Thank you! Pam
He standing up today- I can tell he's had diahrea (never been able to spell that) from the enema. Gave him another shot, electrolytes, and water. On a chicken note- he's see's me feeding the chickens, and gets ****** off because he wants to eat. Even laying down, he whinnies for his dinner!! Pam ps- thanks for the well wishes!

Cindy/Cinders/Cinderella- If you thinks the Eeyore pants are sexy- you should see the pink fleece Betty Boop pants with lips and Coca-Cola! Thanks for the compliment on my chickens. I post and ugly one sometimes, and delete is as soon as I get an answer (on FB)

New Silkie Mama...HELP! My first Silkie egg just hatched and I don't know whether I should pull it and put it under a heat lamp or leave it with the moms (my two white Silkies were sharing the nest). This is the first clutch for both of them. If I leave it with the moms are there any special instructions I should have? I put baby chick food & water near the nest but is there anything else I should do? Does the chick have a higher chance of survival with its mom? Someone told me that Silkies just keep sitting and will sit the chicks to death. Is that true? I'm supposed to leave town today and am at a loss. Thanks

I havent hatched under a hen for al long time but they are usually good moms. If you are leaving town I would leave it with the mom. Mine in my brooder need watching ( temps, water in small container so they dont drown, cleaning, etc. ) after and since there is only one it would be lonely. How long will you be gone ? More eggs might be ready to hatch any time and it would be the same problem with them.

on the broody topic...I have just had one hatch out some chicks...have never had one before...what type of food should I put our for them with the momma...do I need to put a heat lamp in the garage for them?
