Silkie thread!

Mr. Fluff in the house for his daily snuggle.

And on a car ride.

And sitting on my hand convinced the camera is a treat!

I love him and he is very spoiled. He weaves in and out of my legs like a cat and begs for attention.

Sanna, these are really super photos! I also took a college photography class. It was the most fun I ever had in school! I don't know what's making that bright orange color but that's a boy color. Maybe it's just the lighting. :)
It's the lighting. And I think I changed the contrast too a little bit to make the pictures a tad bit more damatic. lol She's(?) really not that bright orange. This picture here is untouched and shows her natural color much better...other than the fact that this picture is not as good, the colors are dul. But no orange there. What do you think?

These pix are so beautiful!! And your model is STELLAR!

What a beauty! I really think she is a she!
I love the natural lighting ... it really brings the best of her!
I am looking forward looking at more pics from you... hopefully I will get better at taking pictures lol.

Molly is so pretty, great pics.

Thank you everyone!

I got the little guy for $10 instead of $15 :weee
His wings seem ok, I will take more pictures when DH comes back. I agree with you sager silkies, his comb is a bit small but he is very young (i guess 5 months), so I will keep on eye on it.
He is very tame and easy going and doesn't crow yet lol. Anyways for $10, I won't complain lol. Thanks again!

He's beautiful! :love

But what is even more beautiful is that tree in your run. Wow. I love that! Can you show pictures of it? It looks like you incorporated an existing tree in your build. It's so cool!

So I've been playing photographer again. I started a 4 week online pet photography class and the first assignment was to take pictures of your own pet using natural lighting only in 3 different ways, indoors and outdoors. So my little partridge pullet(?) got to be the model for this week!

I'm starting to think that this one is a girl. Makes all the girly noises and looks an awful lot like a little lady. The chicks are three months and one week old now. And for some reason, the name Molly seems to fit for this one.

These three shots are just a fraction of the pictures I took with a black background. I'll post more later when I edit.

I'm thinking I'll use this last shot for the side light option for my assignment. Now I need to pick two more out of the 135 pictures I took.

But Molly was a star! lol
Did not know online courses could have such good results! Congratulations!!! ...of course half the job is done by your beautiful model...

It is going to be a hard job for you to choose the photos...

I was laughing by myself as I was reading your comment because I am usually not that lucky. Actually, I really think I got lucky because I was asking some questions about the little guy and they were telling me a man really wanted him yesterday but didn't get him right away because his coop was not ready. He didn't want to pay to put him on "hold" but said he was going to come back this week. I got him on time lol! If I got him so quick it's because of all of you guys... I wasn't sure because I have 6 white chicks right now waiting to be sexed, so I was really uncertain on getting him.
I really like his feet... lot of feathers! I just have to check (again) his wings, I am still not sure if he has split wings... hopefully not. I am still learning on those split wings

. Either way, if his wings are soso (but not split) I am pretty sure I will keep him.I don't think the new chicks I have right now will have that kind of feet lol.
Thanks again to everyone for being so nice and sincere... you guys really help me on being so quick

Hi, i ve seen here several mentions of "split or slipped wings", and as a newbie cant help wondering what that is and why a concern?, can someone please explain me?

Arrgh! You all are making me want more Silkies! But I don't have the room! These birds are just so adorable! I love seeing the different pictures you all have. I have finally seen one in a car seat..going for a ride! Whoot! And I know what you mean about them weaving in between your legs like a cat. I go out to my Silkies, and right over they come. And one of them talks more than the others. Of course, there is always a talker. That would be Cotton, the one I had the picture of us both together some pages back. Now I am waiting for my baby to start coming over like that. My partridge. Was it peeps that said that the darker the orange could possibly mean a boy? I am hoping that my baby doesn't get any darker, I want this Partridge to be a girl so bad! I should post some pics of her. Maybe I can get ideas from the coloring at least. I know it's too soon for the comb yet..I thin. It's a frizzle/sizzle..not sure what they are called, she, has curly feathers, but not real curly.

He's beautiful!

Thank you. We cut the tree because we needed to close the top (to avoid rain inside the run) but decided it would be cool to leave it for the chickens. We added a ladder for the silkies to go on top and they love perching on it. They also eat the foliage and the leaves grow back lol. It's entraining for them.
We did the same thing for our big girls and they fight for it lol.

It is difficult to see in the photos but he may have "slipped wing" where the primaries fold in front of the secondaries instead of under the secondaries as they should. If so, it may or may not be a hereditary fault. It can be caused by early diet.
I am a bit worried too.... here are more pics of this morning

Crapola! I read that chickens were fertile as soon as they could lay eggs and crow. Then I read that they are not fertile 'till 10 months. SO I have all of my youngsters in one pen/house right now. WELL, my 5 month old LF Phoenix cockerel just mated with my 6 month old Silkie!
