You guys gotta stop tempting me with these polishes, your splash and buff look so much like mine :)

You are not a chicken hoarder until you give up your bedroom to keep the injured and disabled birds comfortable! There was actually an episode of Hoarders where a gentleman had done just that. He had about ten or fifteen birds as permanent residents in what had been the master bedroom plus about a hundred chickens outside. Guy didn't even eat eggs. He wouldn't get rid of the roosters because he didn't want them to be eaten and he would give up a hen every now and then but they were hatching so much faster than he could let go... It was one of the few episodes with a happy ending. Two or three farm animal rescues got involved and were able to promise none of the roosters would be cooked. So he managed to give up all but about twenty birds, cleaned up the house (they kept finding eggs EVERYWHERE) and he was able to move back into the master bedroom.

My Little Silkie in the DustBathe inside the tractor....I can't wait for my silkie to look like Rockerhen's they are from the same line!!!!

Sonoran ~ When this egg came to me from Catdance it was marked PA. When it hatched it was your typical light chipmunk coloring. I wondered about it as it started to get bigger and change colors and especially develop that gray/silver coloring in it's hackles.

So, did you get yours from Catdance too? She didn't say the partridge eggs were from a project pen, only my lavender was from a project pen. How were your eggs marked? It's very interested for sure and this chick is so beautiful and really developing into a beauty I think.

So, are silver partridges considered an acceptable color? Are they a "new" color?

I did read something about the standard for grays and it was so complicated and detailed that I just figured I'll never have one, LOL.

Oh you asked for it!

Sandy the White Silkie Chick!

Your right the closest they have come is my porch ;)

I have tried posting pictures on the polish threads but no one responds as to how he looks. But I haven't gotten very good pictures either. He's a silver laced too, I think the only other person in NH with silver laced is the woman I got him from haha.

I loved the silver laced. I ordered some, and they all died at the middle man's or shortly when I got them. He ordered me 7 more- same thing. I gave up. The two Goldens that survived him- one had a cross beak, and died (failure to thrive, even after hand feeding). The other, I don't think her pattern is correct. But, she is the sweetest thing

Your hatchery is MUCH better than that guy used!!

I was looking at a house up for sale down the road it had the cutest hen house, and an area in the barn for chicks........I am now letting that be a deciding factor, that screams hoarder!!!!!

In my horse mags, when they list houses, they first list how many acres, what the barn looks like, and then "oh yeah, and it has a house" and barely describe it-

I wondered if anyone else used a comb on their silkies, haha I have taken a men's comb and used it on my Roo because he just doesn't seem to groom himself that well. It looks like Ruby is enjoying her combing.

HAHA! I just posed almost the same question on FB! I'll let you know what they say, unless you are already a member of "American Silkie Bantams" group on there. -Pam
