I’m pretty sure I already know the answer to this but I figure I would go ahead and ask just for the heck of it. When a walnut comb starts to form on a silkie, is it possible it can start out spiky; almost like a single comb, but much smaller (for now anyway) and still turn out to be a walnut?

I can just hear the answers now but I figure I would try my best for this little guy as he’s the sweetest of my babies.

Extra info if it makes a difference: Splash silkie from breeder stock - he’s a month old as of yesterday.

Sorry, single comb. From a breeder?
Yeah, from a breeder. Kind of sad this would be in the genetics of the flock. But I guess I shouldn’t have expected too much. It’s the first year they were selling silkies to the public although they stated this had been in the works for 2 to 3 years previously.
