I have been having an issue with one of my silkies. She had diarrhea at first, was drinking a lot of water and a boggy crop. She has stopped laying just prior to the worming. I do not feel any eggs in her abdomen. I wormed her 8 days ago with Valbazen and the diarrhea seemed to improve and have been providing electrolytes and vitamins in the water daily. I also have been giving a kefir (yogurt) treat and some days she eats some and some days she does not. She still is alert, bright eyed and active but she does drink a lot of water, has a red protruding cloaca (the area around it is not swollen or red, just the opening), is making stool very liquidy/soft but less than days ago and is losing weight. She did seem to improve a little after the Valbazen but I am stumped and the swollen anal area is new.

I live in Florida, it has been very very humid lately and very hot. My other hen is fine and laying like a trooper. They do free range and have a clean, well ventilated coop.

The heat is a huge factor for some chickens. Sounds like your hen has a prolapse vent. Here is a link to better understand treatment.
