Silkied Ameraucana Project

Can hope she might recover some vision in it then. With the attack she's lucky to survive and sounds like you are doing all you can for her.
She could be in a lot worse shape than she is, quality of life still good even if blind in one eye. Minor really, she can see out the other, still walk and fly and scratch.

Yeah she should adapt fairly well as they will be in a breeding coop. She will be able to roost on the ladder roost in their coop

Next weekend I'll be heading down to pick up 3 black roosters and 4 black pullets from Redden. The birds should have good type, being from a show line, so it'll be a nice point of comparison with the current flock. The pullets should give me a good idea what to expect egg color wise so I can take that into account as well. Worst case scenario I have some pretty blacks to admire if I decide not to use them in this project. So that'll be my last new-blood infusion attempt for this year. I'm hoping they work out as it'd add a lot of black to the flock going forward.

If I don't remember to post some pictures this week of the young birds for you all, jinx me to only hatch splashes forever :D

Anyway, wanted to share the good news!

Have a question????? Was going over the old thread and saw where chooks was talking about Calico, is that the splash boys with the brown in them, my splash boy has that same brown, I wonder where it comes from and is it only the boys that carry it?

I think, but may be wrong, that calico was a strong red leak through on an otherwise black splash? Not sure where I read that, so it may not be from a good source.
