Silkied Ameraucana Project

So does anyone with the silkie ameracaunas sell hatching eggs?

Also does anyone have splashes? Mostly I just see blacks and lavenders but the first person to have the silkied amercaunas had splahes?

Thespoiledchicken has black/lav eggs for sale, see a few posts up. I don't know who else is actively filling egg requests right now, I'm still in a vetting my own fertility/hatch rates stage right now. Most of us have some degree of BBS since the original birds were splash, so splash and blues are pretty common.

Okay, gotta do some math so make sure I can do this. Still phasing out birds so money is coming in for them...my heads says it's a lot of money but not really, considering what you get in return.

I was worried about weakness but I know this project has been going on long enough that stronger birds are being bred now. It's pretty fantastic.

About how long is your waiting list for eggs? I have a bunch of goose eggs in my incubator right now, so I'm kinda packed, but I don't want to let the opportunity slip.

I'm about 3 weeks out for eggs right now. Just PM me when you are ready :)

.

Just candled. 14 are developing. Several with air cell damage but hopeing they will be ok. I will hatch in the upright position and that should help. But am so very happy with these eggs.

14 developing is GREAT!!!!! I always pack them with air cells up to lesson the damage but the PO can be so mean and throw the boxes in all sorts of directions :(

That said I have hatched tons of eggs with air cell damage so I am still hopeful you'll have a great hatch! Fingers crossed for you

I can have some end of week. My pen is silkied splash roo to splash split girls. I have 3 splash split girls and one blue split girl. Let me know if I can help you.

I dont know what BBS and  mauve/choc mean? Decifer please :D

BBS would be blue black splash. And I think the way it interacts with chocolate color genetics (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is choc and blue gene is mauve, choc and two blue genes (aka splash) is mauve splash?

Okay, so I have a suspicious lack of splashes. 19 out, 0 splashes, almost half blue half black like you would expect from a black x blue crossing. I can believe that from my splits (black males) and my free rangers that I filled the remaining space with (almost entirely black males), but not from my silkied which should be blue x BBS (skew: blue). We'll see better when they feather out who is silkied vs split so I can see how the color skews based on that. This incubator x hatchability test has been enlightening.

Still having new pips, so not totally giving up, but only 19 out of 44 out, 1 confirmed death, 3 that I candled at an opportunity and found were obvious late deaths now. Can't wait for the post hatch logger data for temp/humidity to evaluate against.

What color is you roo (Blue?) and what color are the girls and how many?

blue roo over 2 splash, 5 blue, 3 black (and at the time, the 4th black who turned out to be a roo). But even if stealth black was mating before I moved him, I'd still expect the dominant roo to have bred the ladies.

Couldn't confirm the numbers, as my luck has it the pen door fell clean off (storm came through, my dad no longer gets to complain about MY construction skills - that was his handy work, lol). That pen is going to be messed up for a few weeks now since they are out with the free rangers.
