Silkied Ameraucana Project

Just hatched some eggs from my flock of 6 BBS Silkied Ameraucanas. I hope to build up my flock this year so that I can begin working on improvements in the future. These are new to my list of projects so I am definately excited.

If anyone is near Philly (or planning to travel to the area), I have a lot of Lavender Am chicks that are heterozygous for silkied, and some full silkied chicks. I would like to get them out into the hands of people interested in them. I'm planning to buy some foam egg shippers, so shipping eggs is a possibility also, if you can't travel here for chicks.

Just came across this thread while searching for a breeder of silkied Ameraucanas. Does anyone sell fertile hatching eggs? I'd love to hatch some of these!

I have lavender silkied Ams. The eggs would be from hens that are split for silkied, but the roosters are full silkied. This is a simple recessive trait, so approximately half of hte chicks will be full silkied (homozygous for silkied) and the rest will have normal feathers, but carry the silkied gene (heterozygous for silkied). In addition, there are some black hens that are heterozygous for lavender, so some chicks may be black, but most will be lavender. Any black chicks will be het for lavender and silkied, or possibly full silkied).

They are not laying much yet, but the eggs I am getting are being incubated to check fertility. Later I should have eggs to sell. If you are interested, PM or email me. I have more info and pics on my website: http://welbars.com

Awesome! I'll PM you :)

Last hatch of silkied Ameraucanas (mostly lavender, some blacks) of 2019 are hatching Monday, 6/3. If anyone is interested in some chicks, I expect to be able to ship 2 boxes to breeders looking to perpetuate this breed. Send me a message for details if you are interested.
