Silkied Ameraucana Project

I
i pm'd you the reason i asked is because the only ameraucana rooster i have might be a brown red, he may have wheaten in his ancestry. My great grandpa (where i got him from) has a brown red that produced a wheaten roo, the wheaten roo bred to a few hens which were too dark and they produce 1 wheaten roo 1 brown red roo and 1 miscolored hen (that are still alive) i dont know how closely my roo may or may not be related to them though

Myself, I'd work on getting the color and type stabilized first before adding in the silkied factor.

My silkied. They are growing. Hoping for my first egg soon. I have 3 silkied pullets and 3 silkied split pullets. And 3 silkied roos. So I am set to start hatching in the Spring. Hopefully have some eggs to sell soon also.

In love with your silkie feather girls!! they are adorable. If you have any eggs towards the spring that you might part with consider me :) One of my sons have a thing for spotted chickens. They all get named Marshall from paw patrol nick jr cartoon.

My smooth rooster has the wrong color wings for a brown red he is more of a dark wheaten but ive red that if i bread him with a female with black wings i would get brown reds. So maybe a black hen?
It's not a developed color yet.  Have to study the genetics to figgure out how to create them.

Blacks are integral for many varieties huh? That is what i need to improve my brown red coloration. Getting one or two silkied black hens would give me a head start on both the brown red color and the silkied feather type. The black would be best if they had some birchen background or some red leakage.

I don't know of anyone working with birchen SiAms. Red leakage is more of a cockerel issue, but again, I don't know of anyone going into buff SiAms.
It sounds like the bird you have is a bit of a wildcard. Consistency in components is going to make a huge difference. Typically, you want to find a breed with the color genes you are wanting and as few recessive differences as possible to cross in and then work towards getting back to SOP for the desired type. I'm telling you from experience, the choc/mauve SiAm project has been more than 10 years in the doing, I've got 3 in myself, and I am back tracking to bring in straight choc Ams that have been focused on in order to better move forward. Focus on color and type - THEN concern yourself with adding in the silkied feather gene.

These genetic links are where I would suggest you start.

You'll need to use Chrome or a translator.

I know where the brown red genetics came from now the original brown red rooster was bred with brown red and wheaten hens thus producing a wheaten rooster with brown red genes mated with some miscolored wheaten hens (dark splotching on the backs) who then produced both brown red and wheaten roosters i dont know the colors of most of the hens that they produced.
