silkied not silkie

great, the worst part of it is you don't know what you have till they start to feather out, if I breed the silkie and silkie will i get all silkie or both types? does that make sense

My understanding is that the silkie trait is recessive - if this is true, then *all* offspring of a silkie x silkie cross will be silkied.

Crossing the silkied roo (who btw is too too handsome!) with one of his normal-feathered offspring (HIS offspring, not someone else's) will give you 1/2 silkied chicks and 1/2 regular-feathered-but-carrier-of-the-silkie-allele chicks.

Any silkie x silkie= 100% silkie. Like this silkied cochin rooster with any bird with silky feathers will throw 100% silky feathered chicks. So this rooster bred with his silkied daughter will throw all silkied cochins. No smoothies/normal feathers.

He looks so cool. swheat also has Silkied Cochins in Barred and Black, you may want to buy a few eggs from him to speed the process along.
