Silkies and waterfowl???

Hello, this is Joe, and for this xmas im getting my first fowl, i would love a trio of silkies, but i have a question. Can silkies live with waterfowl? I was concerned for their soft nature and fluffy feet, as i know ducks can be messy and geese can be mean.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

I have Silkies and ducks. I keep the water far enough from the coop so it isn't any more of an issue than rain. I live in the PNW, and boy can it rain!

However... I would choose to house them separately. My ducks give ALL my chickens a run for their money. Most know to avoid them. But the ducks haven't started breeding and trying to really dominate any of the chickens yet. Just the behavior I've seen so far tells me there is a big possibility of the ducks bullying them in the future.
