Silkies!?? Don't recognize the colors *NEW PICS ADDED Pg.3*

I love all of them, no matter what they turn out to look like, even if they turn out to be a mish mosh of colors! I am hoping for at least 1 white and 1 buff though. I really like the white's and buffs!

OK, so here they are all settled in and well rested!

This is the one with the chipmunk stripes

If they're from Ideal, they're buff (or what Ideal likes to call red) and self blue. If they're from another hatchery, they're buff and splash.

In adults yes, but I don't know what a baby gray looks like. Blue adults are very dark, almost black, and gray's are black with silver feathers on their necks.

Grey chicks are similar in appearance to partridge chicks, but with less brown and gold in the down..they're mostly gray and black with some brown and they are striped.

It looks to me like the chipmunk one looks greeny, but around the beak not the feet. ....that's weird. the one pic of the whitish one turning must just be the pic because in the other picture of them together it doesn't seem that way and not in person either...

Blue can vary in colour from the lightest being about the same shade as self-blue (aka lavender), to the darkest being nearly indistinguishable from black. On the lighter blues you can easily distinguish them from lavender by darker head & hackles (& saddles in males).

Grey is partridge with silver replacing gold--a patterned bird. It is not birchen.

Bec, in your 2nd set of photos, the 2nd chick down is either splash or porcelain. I don't see any that look lavender.

from last pics posted-

pic 1- smutted buff
pic 2- white
pic 3- clear buff
pic 4- clear buff, splash, white, smutted buff
pic 5- white, splash, buff
pic 6- splash, white

hope that helps,
silkie

I might be going out on a limb here by saying this but.. I dont think your silkies are pure bred silkies. They are likely mixed with something else. Why do I say this? Cause the feathers on the legs are very thin, the skin is green on a few of them, and the colors are irregular silkie colors.

I think they are purebred just obviously not show quality. There is a significant difference in show quality chicks and hatchery chicks. I wasn't expecting show quality, just nice pets! I looked on feathersite and saw ones very similar and googled a search and too found very similar colors.

And you know, if they are mixed with something it doesn't matter, they will have a loving home here! That just means I will have to choose one of the quality breeders on here and jump into incubation!
