Very sorry about your loss. One possible explanation might be a neighbor or someone fell in love with them and took them home? That's happened to my sister in the past.

everything like that has crossed my mind ,it doesn't seem possible though . none of the neighbours knew and there is a 6-7ft fence around the back garden and they can't even be seen from the street. our next door neighbour is in his 80's lol. past it i think.

i don't think i will ever know and will always suspect mum as as far as i can see, she is the only thing that had access to them...

I wouldn't put theft out the answer I got all three of my call ducks taken out my garden without a trace

disaster! i left them and all was well. 2 hours later i return home and the chicks have vanished without a trace. the wire dog cage was sealed with netting so there is no way they could get out. has she eaten them??? i'm so upset. the last egg i removed but it has died.

so disheartened...

there is nowhere to hide. they are really gone. i couldn't believe it yesterday...looking in ridiculous places like in an inch of straw and parting her feathers. really they've gone.

still feel raw about it, i was so excited to see their cute puffy heads. they looked strong and beautiful.

hope yours all hatch. not long now.

So sorry this happened, i have heard hens will sometimes kill and eat the chicks if there is something wrong with them and also that some hens just dont like cetain colored chicks and will kill them too. my sister and i both have had broody hens last year and when the eggs hatched another hen was eating them while the broody was still hatching the late eggs. needless to say that chicken was sent away again so sorry for the loss silkys are just about the cutiest babies there are
