How do you know when a silkie bantam is fully feathered? I have 6 babies,2 are just Basic Red egg layers and 4 are silkies, they are all the same age. The Red chicks are fully feathered but I'm having a hard time deciding if the silkies are because they are so fluffy. We have them inside in a brooder and they are really starting to stink the place up, and I can tell they are eager to get more space. Any thoughts? When I turn them upside down and they spread their wings the feather stems are thick, but I can still see some black skin? iDK

My silkies have always feathered out at the same time as all the others so I wouldn't be too worried! you could see skin on my buff hen for her whole life. good luck!
