I don't know much at all about breeding silkies, I just had my first hatch from my own chickens and I'm trying to figure out which rooster is the dad to have gotten the colors I got. The momma hen is black split to paint. I have a blue rooster and a splash rooster. The babies are partridge looking. Which one could be the dad? Will I always get that color with that combination?

    Ask these fine folks:

Just from what little bit I know about genetics, you should be getting blue, splash, and black from that combo. I don't know the difference between splash and paint - that might change it up a bit, too. Partridge look more buff when born, right?
