ok thanks that's what I thought just wasn't for sure. I wonder which one it is here Is a pic of them.It looks blue to me, which means that one of your black Silkies is actually a dark blue. There are a lot of dark blues that are mistaken for black because they look black. But you can tell what they actually are by their offspring. Two true blacks cannot produce a blue. One parent must carry the blue gene to produce a blue![]()
The chick looks too dark to be a self blue/lavender.
ok thanks. i will check the under fluff and see is their the same color.I have heard that you can look at the under fluff. If it is light then it is a blue but then some people have said that a true black can have light under fluff tooSo I dunno. Maybe post pictures of them in the silkie breeding, genetics and showing thread. They know a lot and i think there is a thread just for black Silkies. Maybe try that too.![]()
Either way they are nice looking birds. I love the hen!
