Silkies Of A Different Color

Think I might be in denial too!!!
I have a 10-11 week old tort aswell, looks very much like the one in the picture. And I so don't want her to be a him!!!! Is this all ways a set in stone fact that copper color on gray = boy??
Hopeing I had a great girl to add to my creole silkie project :( drat...
Not sure if it's set in stone, I sent pics to the breeder I got the eggs from and she says Pullet. So, I'm hoping she's right. Scootalu holds herself like a Pullet and I checked last night and she has no spur buds. Crossing my fingers!!!

Check the crest. If it has "streamers" it's probably a male. Hope you find none :fl

No streamer on mine just a think black mushroom cap of a crest. Does this mean I have hope after all!!!!
Thanks for the help :)

Streamers are boys. No streamers means you could have either a guy or a gal. Silkies are sssssooooo difficult to sex! Check the comb too. Males have wide combs that extend farther down the face than the female's comb does. Never give up hope until you hear a crow :)

could help going to double check to see if i remember the crest right?

and wanted to know what you think boy or girl????
are they streamer???
i compared her hip bones/ pelvic bone to ones in the same age group that i know are boys and cali seemed to have much wider spacing, but I'm not sure how actuate that is??? she/he also seems rounder than the two that i know are boys in that group.
i would love to have her in my Creole project next year, but if she is a he i need to start looking for a new home for him too

I'm going to say boy, Theresa. In these two pictures it appears to be streamers (fine longer hair like feathers coming out of the back of the head) developing as well as the copper in the wings. Also you guys, if Sonoran has seen your photos and said boy or girl that would be pretty much set in stone. She is an expert in colors and sexing with her education and experience in genetics, just FYI.

Oh, and I am NOT an expert by any means, but am speaking from my own personal experience and trying to help if I can.

That was the first time I posted pictures, thanks for your help though :) not that I have a choice till I find a home for him, but think I'll hold on to him till I hear a crow, his two brothers have already started so it shouldn't be to long?

Dianne88 it's amazing how much are two little her/hims look alike post if you hear a crow and I'll do the same, here's hopeing they start laying eggs instead :)

Thanks fur n Feathers!!! I was looking back a ways (I just found this thread) and cought a few photos of your beauties, very nice!! You wouldn't happen to be doing any work with colombian silkies would you??? I kinda fell into owning one last year and am in love with him. It's been my biggest /my first / my only breeding project but havent found much info on them?
I'll post some pictures of my Colombia roo later, see what people say about him, and don't worry I know he's a boy :)
