Doesn't andalusians have its own dilution power?
I have read everything I can find on the silkie "porcelain". I get it. I understand how the "porcelain" got brought into silkies. She has a porcelain colored bird from andalusian buff parents. Its not just anything goes. If "porcelain" (buff lavenders) would breed true it would be accepted, right? The recipe you speak of, self blue buffs, are what one guy said it is and invented a name for it...that is his recipe...not the only way this color can be achieved.
Blue is a diluter of black only. It has no effect on red, and therefore does not dilute buff. Using Caitlin_VT's bird as an example, you could selectively breed for a lighter blue so it looks close to lavender but the buff on the chest and wing will remain unchanged.
Lavender is a diluter of both black and red. It turns buff into a straw color, which is something blue will not do. Here is an example of the difference (picture from Sonoran Silkies). Buffs in the back, isabel and white in the front.

Lavender also changes mille fleur to porcelain. Blue would only dilute the black and the remainder of the bird would be the same.
