Congratulations on a wonderful suprise!!!! I have a tiny white hen and don't know if she'll ever lay. Does Tiny lay smaller eggs than usual? Was it Tiny's egg that hatched? Perhaps an egg was hidden in the bedding and when you collected them it was overlooked...thereby giving you a precious little baby. Let us know how it does.

I have a Lavender that this year, every third egg was an egg toot! I have a nice collection of them, at least a dozen for the chicken display at the feed store!

Maybe I'll throw them a chick shower this weekend. Can you imagine the little suet cake & favors, streamers & "little" chicken diapers!

God I need to go to bed, this is starting to sound normal.....

Brody's Broodello :

Had a surprise tonight.
Well the story goes like this, needed some grow out space & since half the flock have lost all their feathers at the same time decided to double up some birds. So some odd nest mates have become friends. With these pairings I collect the eggs for a friend of my Dad's. He likes the little chickie eggs for his salads. So any extra silkie eggs go in the basket for the fridge, to be delivered at the end of the week. But in one pen I have Brody's fav white pullet Tiny ( mutantly small chick, that he begged us not to sell, after we took it all the way to Ohio from MD. ) So in there was Tiny, & the two Hen's from the Salmon hatch ( they are wheaten) A White cock, Porcelain cock, Salmon cock & a Calico cock. Well the other week, I notice Tiny looks like she is broody, check, yep one egg. Take it add to the fridge, goes on a few days, the Wheaten does the same, eggs in the fridge again. This goes on a few days, then nothin. Another day nothin. No problem, have eggs coming out of my ears. Have a crazy weekend & figure, no eggs. Not even going to bother picking up the hens. Busy, busy, busy.... a couple of days go by, and I think. I forgot to get the possible egg from the girls. Well I go to pick up Tiny, and hear, click! Oh no! she has a few eggs under here! So does the wheaten! ( Now I have to say, I don't hatch under the hens, only the foofoo bators hubby has bought me) OOOPPPSS!!! Well now I can't chuck the eggs, they probably stated to develope, that would be MURDER! So I'll have to let them set them. So yesterday, the other hen decides to go join the sit in. They are all flopped in the corner of the pen. So I'm like, how many frigin eggs are under them, they have been on these things now 2 weeks, and Tiny has flattened herself into the biggest pancake I have ever seen. So I wade through the fluffy masses to count the eggs tonight. Pick up one hen, two under her, two next to her. Great.. Then to the white pancake formally known as Tiny, start to pick up, and am imediately scolded!!! BY THE PEEP UNDER HER WING!!!! I know they were not down for 21 days, I think? Could not be that long, but the heat has gotten to me it seems. The little yellow bugger, with the black stripes is the spitting image of it's daddy the Salmon. So it seems I may have more for the fall than I originally thought! Hopefully if I can get past the line of proud poppas, in one piece, I'll get some pics of these guys. But the question still remains" How many very eggs are there under all that fluff?"

Absolutely love the story!!! You should be a writer!

Overall, it looks a lot like my blue mottleds. Look at individual feathers to see if the white is only at the tip. Don't use wing feathers, but body and tail feathers are good choices.

Both... the tips of some and then there are some all white feathers. I dug around a little on her and found a good example of the majority of her feather coloring. I need to get some no flash daylight pics for you to show her true colors. The flash alters her coloring quite a bit but here is one that is pretty close.

I looked and mine and she is not as dark as your she only looks that way in my pen next to my hens. There is white tip athe dark on the bottom the most if not all of the under coat is the light color. It is a little harder to tell then it sounds.
