Silkies or Mixed?

Hi

I have some chicks I bought from the local feed store and was told they are black Silkies. They have white on their heads and I haven’t seen any online that do? They are now about 5 weeks old and have quite a lot of feathers for Silkies? Anyone know if they could be Silkie Frizzles? Thank you!

Those look like Cuckoo Marans (with feathered feet) or barred Cochins to me. I am not an expert, though. They will be nice birds, whatever they are!

I cant help you with the breed except they are not silkies. They do not have black skin, beard/muffs, silkie feathers or vaulted skull. I cant really see the comb well but it looks like it might be straight comb. They are not frizzles because they do not have curled feathers. My guess would be something bantam, cochin do come in bantam size as do a lot of other breeds so I wouldn't go by size in trying to determine breed. Do you know where the local feed store bought the chicks from? Then maybe you can check that hatchery website to see what they sell to help you narrow it down.

Thank you for your input! I called the feed store and clarified they are Silkie bantam mixes. I don’t see anything Silkie about them other then their feet?
