Silkies Or Not???????

Wondering about these two silkies, if they are truly both silkies or not. Both have 5 toes, but one has a lot more growth in her coat an on her legs than the other. They are both supposed to be pullets and are around the same age. Wondering if one appears to be a cross with something else. What breed of silkie are they so I know how they will turn out when grown? Thanks so much for your help.

Can't really answer your question myself. But I also have Silkies, but they are both white. Your chickens look like Silkies to me, though.

I'd say purebred but poor quality Buff Silkies.

Poor quality buffs. One is way younger though, and I wouldnt be betting on gender yet. It takes silkies a while longer than regular chickens.

I kind of thought they looked like a crossed Buff too. Any ideas on how they will look fully grown? Will their color change or stay the same? Also, I have heard that silkies are great for kids. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old that wanted these chicks as pets. So far they have been great.

2 are silkies,, 1 younger 1 older,,, 1 barred rock(pullet),,, and 1 BO???? dont know bout tht one.

Okay, so it looks as though we can agree with the farm store that the two bigger ones are silkie pullets. The other is a barred rock and a RIR. Still need some pics of what you think the silkies may look like when grown. I can't seem to find any reference to their color on any silkie pics I have seen.

Check out the Showing section for the Silkie thread and look there for pics. From what I have seen, they will stay about the color they are now, maybe a little darker or lighter. Also, I wouldn't count on them being pullets, it takes months to tell the sex of Silkies.

Buff is their color. But they look like silkies to me also.
