Silkies sleeping on ground

Thank you everyone for your help! Your information is invaluable!

So....Until I reinforce the chicken wire with 1/2 inch wire mesh I will continue to put them up into their little hen house. Chicken wire has holes just large enough for a raccoon or opossum paw to reach into the coop

. Nasty little predators!!!

Funny how I thought raccoons were cute until I started keeping chickens....

I am going through the same thing with my 3 silkies..they are now almost 16 weeks old and they refuse to go into their coop at night..instead we find them all huddles together on the ground..in FRONT of the coop..so I can relate! They won't even go in when it is raining! We have to put them to bed every night in the coop and they will not roost..instead they sleep all huddled together on the coop floor! Fustrating little fluffy butts!!

I thought it was just my little stinkers!!! My five are 5 months old and no eggs and require tucking in at night - almost worse than my three teenagers! Good thing they're so darn cute!

We have 2 silkies that are 10 months old. They have always gone into the coop at night but used to sleep in the corner in a pile with the 3 cochins. Now that we have 7 JG hens everyone sleeps up on the roosts except for one silkie. I guess she likes sleeping in the corner on the sand.

my silkies always went up to the coop at night with the others BUT they do not sleep on the roost. they are hanging out in the morning but when i check on them at night they are not on the roost.
