Silkies tag-teaming the 2 batches of eggs.

I do have to ask since you know how broody they get and you get a 50/50 sex split on average, what are your long term plans? Will you process them for cup'o'soup?

Also how many white cockerels/roos do you have? My sneaky egg thieving silkie broody is probably ready to set her tykes loose soon I am thinking I am going to put a bluetooth tracking collar on her this time. https://www.amazon.com/Esky-Wireless-Locator-Transmitter-Receivers/dp/B078XR8C15# this one is close to the price of a single Cube tracker but I can necklace 6 birds, who cares if they loose it as it seems to be and item designed to be found.

Cube makes a bluetooth one and you use it with their App, but what kind of data spillage will happen that way I prefer the rfid version.
That tracking toy sound fun...... Need to go look at it later.... Okay now to edit pics for faster & successful upload.

My next post here will be an update on pics of each of the remaining chicks. I "just" took pics of each a few minutes ago specifically for this purpose.

As for the ones that died. Unfortunately for 3 reasons I just buried them. 1) our younger 3 daughters are now officially teens 13,13, &14. 2) my VA therapy has been paused and I'm not in the right frame of mind for the job of butcher.
3) every one that had died over night (accept one very tiny one) had cooled and rigermortis had set in.
Technically #4) I don't have space or tools procured yet for any of that yet as well.
Please also post picks of the potential fathers. Someone seems to be genetically off since it was limited to just the white ones up to this point.

There is only 1 silkie father. Only he was with the silkie girls "ever". Seperate coop/run inside the big run.

I do recall something both my Better-half and I have read regarding a specific sub-group of silkies.... The "frazzles"??? They are most likely to die as to exaggerated cranial fragility or some such genetic fragility....

Okay I'll post each chickie as it's own post in just a bit. But...... A couple theories on my part about this chicks.
#1) the Brown egg chick has from day 1 walked and stood very tall and erect. Contrary to the 3 silkie hens we currently had. The white silkies we got as chicks together and raised them together until he started to get too rough. So all the silkie hatchmates are regularly"standing taller" then their Momma do.
#2 Silkie feet- compared to the white dad I have not seen any spur buds show up yet.... I will gladly reinspect and get shots of the feet of necessary.
#3 Brown eggs feet, my last pics of the feet showed what I thought might be "buds" for spurs. However, I don't see anything larger at all.

Okay now for pics in seperate posts

Okay we have the Brown egg, chocolate, & 3 salt-n-pepa's that have survived.

This is the Chocolate chickie. Yes, "now" upon editing pics I discovered that it's starting to have some brown hints in its wings.

#2 salt-n-pepa is going to be 'medium' as it has the a modest amount of brown feathers and it seems to have a more pronounced beard? It's also seems to have a hint of green too and seemed to be more of a "ham" for the camera.
