I am amzed at how many people do not know what they are!?! Carazy!
Especially when you have someone say they've had Silkies before and then ask what is that on his head (like it is some disgusting growthor something)!?
um...Walnut comb?
Makes ya wonder what they had that they thought were Silkies hun?
Haha yep, amazing why people don't know What they are! Chickens of course! ..I've had many ask what the growth on the head is too!

Looks like I have a sale of one of the cockerels tomorrow. I never know if they will turn up till they actually do though, very annoying when they don't say they decided not to come.
I was considering keeping him but I think 2 boys will do in my flock. They should be able to cover 9 or 10 hens each? And if half go broody at the same time then they'll be less hens to go around 😄

Hopefully they will come! I hate when they do that as well!
I'm really wondering if I should sell Bluey...he's just so tall, alot like Grayson was. And I want shorter, stockier Satins. Or if when I put Bluey with the d'uccles it will balance out!?
Lizzy is perfection!!! She is so tiny and petite! I cannot wait til she starts layin and I can put her with Joey! Oh the babies they will have!!! She's almost 4 months old...I can't tell if she's squatting for me or just a snuggle girl cuz she absolutely LUVS snuggle time!
She's the softest lil baby I've ever had too...not sure of her being so cuddly makes her softer or what LOL!
She's the perfect coloring I've wanted since first hatch too! So Lizzy is a dream come true!!!
Gonna get Joey's bachelor coop fixed up today and move his hormonal booty out of the main run/coop.
Wish me luck cuz I hadn't been feeling well...not sure if flare-up with health or what. DD is gonna come help me then we are supposed to be havin a baking day!

Personally, I'd keep him. I've found that three cockerels or roosters get along better than two.
Also shouldn't 5 to 6 hens each, should be optimal for bantams?

Well the person that was going to come decided not too so I'll just wait and see how they go I think. The 2 cockerels were hatch mates and always hang out together. If they all continue to get along then I could keep them all to increase my chances of fertile eggs.
My rooster is sweet and I do not want him getting injured by fighting. He does not fight another rooster unless they start it and he hasn't got a choice but has to fight back. I hope the 2 cockerels won't challenge him - they run away from him at the moment.

I hate they didn't come but may work out for your good sounds like!
We got Joey all moved in to his bachelor coop...he just paces back and forth. I feel badly for him.
I went down little bit ago and let him run around and have treats...found 4 brownish black worms on few tomatoes so he got some good treats!!!
Gave him some luvins and tucked him in...I get inside and see he's pushed the inside door on coop open and back down in the run pacing.
I guess I'll be making another trip out to put him on roost bars once it is darker.
IF I got up BEFORE he did in the mornings I would let him sleep in with others...but I don't and the mornings are one if his rowdiest times!

I took 3 roos from a friend of mine. gave 1 to a friend on my way home. now I have 4 pairs of silkies and I keep egg layers with them to balance the ratio roos : hens. when the temperatures drop I will ship 1 roo to another friend. I might butcher one that makes rattling sound all the time when it is hot. I tried antibiotics but they didn't help. if he does not stop that sound when it gets cooler I have a pot ready for him.

My white D'uccle does that same type of breathing, especially when she's hot. I suspect she has a heart issue, sometimes the "red" drains from her face, then comes back later. It was happening when she lived in the house too, so its not only heat related. Might be good to cull him in case its a genetic issue.

He's way too orange, but he isn't too bad for body shape considering he's 3rd gen and hatched from a green egg. Molly is his mother and he's starting to mellow out and become friendly. 14 weeks old today
