The 5th one went broody today and I just couldn't help taking a picture of the darkness. Seconds later one of the hens got up to grab the egg and stuff it under her.

I need to find my LED candles to put around a circle of diatomaceous earth, then plop the hens down around it.

4 silkies hatched by dutch bantam hen. 1 infertile, 2 dead in shell.

Checked the 9 silkie eggs in the bator this morning, all silkie chicks, day 3.. 9 developing.. Woot..Splash x Splash

Not as many silkie eggs today, but some very nice ones. I need to separate out the hens in the project pen so I can figure out who's laying that blue. There are 5 choices on who it is.

lost 2 silkie chicks in brooder in 3 days

another dutch bantam should hatch these days - 4 silkie eggs. a friend of mine hatched 5-6 silkies from my eggs. collecting more eggs. it is a silkie boom this year. I hope broodies will not loose any chicks.
