Any silkie thread drags me in...so here's some of my breeding/showing flock of Silkies and some of their chicks.

When it comes to Silkies, even though I absolutely adore them (hence why I keep and breed them) there is still little things about them that can grind my gears :barnie

I'm not getting further into it but I always go with the saying that parents used to say..."Dont say you don't like something if you've never tried it".

Some breeds work for different people and their circumstances and I fully respect that. Personally, I think any chicken that's a healthy and happy one is a good one no matter what it looks like.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of my fluffy chickens, they're still perfect to me and I'd never change them for anything else!

(Except a chicken nugget...:drool)

Here is a picture of my silkes, Peter is the blue silkie and Piper is the buff. Sorry, Peter is in the shade and Piper is in the sun, it is a little odd but they don't like picture time!:

This year I ordered 5 blue silkies, 5 buffs, and 5 spangled old English game bantams from Cackle Hatchery, and they sent an extra of each. I ended up with 4 buff girls and two roosters, and 1 blue girl and 6 roos!!! It is really disappointing cause I was really depending on 2-4 blue girls for the silkie chick selling business i want to start!:barnie
If anybody in Idaho wants buff or blue silkie roosters (for free) message me, but keep in mind that I am not shipping them, you will have to come to me.

By the way, HuffleClaw, your silkies are ADORABLE:love
They are beautiful! :love

:love They are beautiful!
Thanks!
As you know, I've publicly had a dislike for my Siklies. I still think they are...
"Looks like a dust mop"
"Too hard to maintain"
"Dumber than rocks"
"0 predator awareness"
And oh, so much more.
But...
I'll go ahead and publicly admit, I like my Siklies now. It only took a few months, but they've grown on me a ton this last week. They are hilarious when they jump and run. I mean, is that really chest bumping their doing or is it more like an "AHHH, You scared me!" kind of jump? No other bird here is that silly, and it makes them hard to not like.
