Really? They are a similar to my chickens when they were that age. The same size and weight. In the UK, silkies are standard size
Ok, they look older compared to mine at that age ☺️
Pic of little Easter at 6-7 weeks old.. so same age as your Ginger and Raven. Huge difference! Wow standards vary alot don't they around the world 😄

10 chickens...
(7 silkies, 3 polish)
Once i move, ill be able to have 8! Not hidden in my house either! I have my 3 girls... im so used to them being close though, I'm having a hard time with the idea of them being outside. Im sure it would make them happy, but mayyyybe not... They have certain calls when they want me to do something, and of course I'm trained well, so i come running 😆

But outside, hmm, i definitely want polish, hopefully some are frizzled. Elsa is my only cochin, so she might need a cochin friend. I notice my d'uccles are glued to each other. They are nice to her, but Elsa sort of does her own thing. I do believe birds of a feather flock together.. but maybe she can hatch some eggs and a chick might grow into her BFF. Only 8 is constraining though..

You have house chickens?
Some BYC members hate it. But I quite like the idea of having a house chicken, one day, I'm gonna adopt (or hatch) 2 chickens and have them inside! It probably won't be in a while though

Oh yea, its super easy. I use a very large bunny hutch that has removable trays.. although i just scoop the trays w a kitty litter scoop. I did have to experiment quite a bit with litters until i figured out what works, but now its easy. They tell me when they just want a visit, when they want treats, when they have an egg 😆 i dont think it would work for full size chickens, mine are bantams. They are molting at the moment.

If I had house chickens, I'd probably choose seramas. Apparently they make good house birds: and they are small!
Ps- your birds are adorable!

Actually seramas are what made me even realize i could have house chickens! But of course they are super hard to come by for immediate chicken obsessive thoughts. Instead, i got silkies! I got my two itty bitty silkies who arrived in the same batch as minnie and daisy (the D'uccles in the pic). I actually confused them for silkies as well, because they were all fluffy feather footed birds. Ironically, the silkies did not make good house chickens.. their egg songs and screams unfortunately really are too loud for the house. The D'uccles chatter a lot, but the decibel levels are far lower. The bantam cochin has the sweetest dove like coo.. she is probably best noise wise (she's actually calling me as i type this). Gotta check on my baby!
