Reasons I don't own silkies:
"Looks like a dust mop"
"Too hard to maintain"
"Poor immune system"
"Dumber than rocks"
"0 predator awareness"
And oh, so much more.

But hey, they can be cute.:love
Very cute, but I'm having to predator proof the run with hardware cloth to prepare for bantams cause there are a ton of 6 ft rat snakes in my area.

Can't argue about most of these statements. 😊
Except for the poor immune systems. I have not lost an adult Silkie to illness yet (knock on wood), though I have lost some of my standards to mystery illnesses.
I find Silkies to be hardy little birds.
I do doubt though, that one would find any Silkies with a MENSA membership.

The surprise silkies could be black, blue, splash, buff or white. So I'll get those splash, and D'uccles. How do you even pronounce D'uccle?
Are you planning on breeding your Silkies? If so I would get Blue and Splash, that way you will get more color variety in the chicks. A well-bred Blue Silkie is gorgeous.😊

Can silkies get wet? If rains a lot in Georgia.
Best they do not get too wet. They get chilled easily due to their feather structure. Wet in itself is OK, it is wet and being in the wind that can be a problem. I keep my birds in covered runs, they stay very clean, even the white ones!🙂

I don't know, I might it depends on what my parents say. Should I get blue instead of mystery silkies? had been saving for a long time so I had enough money to snake proof the coop and run, and buy chicks. And they said yes to me having my own flock!
