Let me know how it goes! I hate to try and do that with mine so I hadn't ever! But Josie can't see squat and is easily freaked out. I would prefer to do a pony tail of sort but unsure how to do that when they have pins. Anyone know how that would work?
I wouldn't move or cut their feathers when theyre pinned.. its painful as those are coming through their skin. Once the keratin casing falls off, then you can give them cute updos and haircuts 💇‍♀️🎀

Mine was more like 8 months or so.

thank you. I guess I will need to find another roo. it will not be easy as my hens are big, bearded and with huge crests. I need a similar roo.

I have recently lost an araucana roo as well. bad luck with roos. at least my 3 araucana pullets have not started to lay so I have plenty of time to find a roo for them. I also want a double tufted roo as all 3 girls are clean faced.

I candled earlier today (day 5) and 7 of my 9 shipped mille eggs are developing beautifully! My 8 eggs from my own flock here are all developing nicely so far as well. Just starting to see the start of some dancing today in both the shipped eggs and mine, it never gets old! 🥰
So exciting! And with shipped eggs, too. Fingers crossed they keep progressing nicely! Can’t wait to see these chicks!❤️

Oh they are so beautiful! ❤️

I've also used scissors. I like the smaller ones best since they are easier to work with for more delicate tasks like trimming around the eyes. I get my husband to hold them while I do the trimming. It helps a lot having someone there to help. 😊

Good luck when you do trim! Mine always seem so much happier when they adjust to actually seeing well. I've never had a problem except sometimes going a bit too far and giving them an ugly cut. 😅
Agreed, definitely a two person job. I hold them usually and my daughter does the trimming. Her eyesight is so much better than mine.🤣
We use blunt edged scissors. The birds honestly do not seem to mind much, they seem to like the attention. They usually get a nail trim, if needed, at the same time.😊

Thanks! Yeah I was mostly worried about using sharp pointy scissors near their eyes and having them move and get hurt 🥴 I will make the husband help and maybe use the small fingernail scissors so I don’t go over board 😆 Thanks!!
It took me some practice to get used to using it to! At first i was nevous using it, but its easier to get another person to hold them and hold their wings to not flap and hold their neck a bit

I dont have any yet but i want one jsut making sure that they can live in cold weather.
Ah. I would probably go with a older one as itd be easier this time (not to old, just like 6 month or something) for ease. they can, but make sure they dont get a ton of draft in their coop.

my giant 2,5 mo chick weighs 780 gr (27,5 oz)! might be a boy, right?
Yes likely a boy at that age! It would depends on relativity of your female chicks weights.😊
For reference my 11 week old three-quarter silkie one quarter Polish weighed 628 g black silkie at 7 1/2 weeks weighed 398 g and an almost 6 week old paint silkie weighed 252 g.
All pullets.

Photos of the Littles eating this morning. They quickly figured out how to eat and drink and get under the heat of the brooder plate. I just love the happy sounds they make when they’re eating, it’s one of the nicest sounds I know!🥰
