Puff has left the unhatched egg, I candled it and it is black so doesn't that mean chick inside? I don't have an incubator so it's got no hope 😩 I can't hear it and not pipping so maybe dead? What would it look like if it's dead inside?... I slipped it under a hen that's laying in the box so maybe it has a slight chance of staying warm!

I hope it still has a chance!! I think your plan is good!!

My Saturday hatch is all finished and I got some lovely new babies! 5 of the mille fleur babies ended up hatching. I'm really happy with that number being they are from shipped eggs. Four of the 5 have naked necks. One I'm a little worried about because of the naval (possible omphalitis) but the baby is energetic and doing well so far so I hope it's not that. I love how much variety there is in down color with these guys. I can't wait to see how their pattern develops as they grow and I'm looking forward to seeing what feather type they have. I think frizzle might be a possibility which would be a lot of fun. 🥰

I had some from some of my own flock incubating too that hatched as well. I didn't get a separate picture of them but here they are all in a big group along with the mille fleur babies. There are 3 blacks, 2 paints (that may be mottled as well as paint) and 1 either black split to mottled or possibly even fully mottled baby. Four of these (one black, two paint, and the split/mottled baby) have a naked neck silkie dad but he didn't pass it on to any of them. 😂

Here is the little one that is at least split to mottled I'd say and perhaps even fully mottled. I love the little pink and black beak it has. It'll be fun watching to see if it turns all black or actually is mottled. 😁

I'll have more from my flock hatching next Saturday too but this hatch was extra special because of the millie fleur babies! I'm hoping maybe I get lucky and get some mottled next hatch and perhaps that Nn dad might actually pass the naked neck to a couple babies this time. 😂

The broodies sound hilarious! 😂

Your new girl is so pretty too! That is so wonderful you were able to give her a home where she has friends now! ❤️

Oh no I'm so very sorry you lost your sweet Poppy. She really was a beautiful girl and sounded like a sweetie too. 😢:hugs

Oh how exciting!!! Those parents are absolutely gorgeous! I hope you get a great hatch! 🥰

Oh congrats! They r so adorable! Super excited to see how the mille fleurs grow out!!!

How far along is it? Do you have a heating pad to put it under? Might work in a pinch?
Day 21, I put it back under puff since she was staying in the same spot at the moment and then when she moves into position for night time I'll move the egg again, if not hatched tomorrow I don't think it will ☹️ not much hope with all the moving around.

I hope if it is alive it'll hatch soon while Puff is still on it. :fl

Given you didn't see movement during candling and the others already all hatched maybe this little one already passed and Puff just had good instincts about it so didn't bother staying put.

Sad! :-( poor baby egg, those that grow all the way and then don’t hatch always make me sad :-(
