I have got 4 black silkies and 1 yellow (red?) mistery chick. I hope they didn't get cold as they spent hours in a box. they are 7-10 days old.
How are all your little ones doing? Do you already have a 'suspicion' about your mistery baby 😊
So legally, i can have 8 chickens total, one of which can be a rooster. keeping both roosters puts me at 10... my neighbors want me to have 100 chickens, so they won't be a problem, but im hoping the roosters (Fred and Barney) won't be too loud (well, they can't wake mama), and that they'll get along. If that's the case, YES!! I would want both.

The polish is just so funny, he doesn't want to be held, and is terrified of the tiny D'uccles 🤣 but he's just so sweet with his little flock. The silkie is soooo nice, eats from my hand, let's me hold and cuddle him.. so i just can't part with either right now. If things change with noise or personality, i might have to rehome, but for now, they're keepers 🥰
That's awesome :yesss:

Kasimir really is such a pretty boy though......his color is just so beautiful and vibrant! 😍
He is really stunning!😍
Omg gorgeous!!!
Thank you all ❤️
He does have a very funny personality, and he is the one of the boygroup that always gets in trouble. He does have funny ideas and he is the male who loves food most (as a chick and youngster he always was the one with the biggest crop, we often joked about this - what a great egg-layer 'she' would be in the future with this appetite 😆)

...I'm really surprised how much less excited my boys (especially the boygroup - except Kasimir) are about food than the girls. How often there are leftovers and what they leave over - real 'good stuff'.
The girls can take away everything from James, even out of his beak.

🤔I guess this is because the girls have to lay eggs and need so much more 'resources' for this.

Awww - congrats ❤️ It is so, so touching when they just got out and are so wet and wobbly 🥰 Such a sweetie! Fingers crossed for the others still in their eggs :fl
Thank U!
I always hate all the bumping around the first one or so does to the other little eggs...but I also know their chirpping encourages the others to come on into the world!
What do yall do bout em bumping n knocking the unhatched eggs around?
I don't wanna dare open it since I've had so many issues with incubators (long story) and now humidity dipping.

Congratulations on your new baby! ❤️:wee:wee

I would wait until two have hatched and have fluffed up. As the third one hatches you can quickly remove the first two so they have each other for company. You do not really need to worry about humidity as much now, because the humidity will go up naturally then.😊
Because I use a dryer right next to the incubator, I actually remove my chicks immediately after they have hatched and place them in the dryer.😊
