Well I could do with another boy if there are 20 girls with my one boy! But I think some of the 8 (2 week old) chicks must be boys so that should even it out a littlenot impossible. I hatched 8 girls (and wanted 2 cockerels at least).

New photo of Nova, my second gen Polkie. My daughter took this photo earlier this week. She weighs just under 2 pounds at 4 months of age and is such a sweetie. She makes the same creaking noises as her Polish grandma!View attachment 3002641
What a sweetieHere's pic of it before I got 3rd shoe onView attachment 3002987
That's so cute - Bambina's big performanceGuesss whatttt... everyone slept in the coop last night (very unhappily, while protesting loudly) and i was able to get the mini coop out of the run. In the morning, the big girls came out first, then very wobbly, each of the others very sllowwwwlyyy came down the ramp. Except BambinaMy fear was that Elsa got her in the night, but i was too afraid to look! So i waited, and waited, and waited..
And then.. FLYING out of the coop door, bypassing the ramp entirely, and landing softly on the backs of her flock mates, clearing about 6 ft, was Bambina!!
Tonight, i counted my chickens and one was missing!! Pebbles had put herself into the coop on her own! Not too bad after just one night! I still had to scoop everyone else up and put them in there, and Fred, ugh, gotta run around to catch him!! But maybe after a few nights they will figure it out. Progress!![]()
Fingers crossed that both cockerels arrive safe and sounda friend of mine has a 6 mo cockerel. she is going to send him - she lives in north greece. as temperature dropped and we expect some snow next week I told her to wait a bit. she also found an araucana cockerel for me. mine died a few months ago. bad luck with cockerels recently.
What did Ezzie get for her 1 week birthday? 6 new sisters. Picked up 3 Buff orp and 3 Cinnamon Queen siblings this afternoon for her.

Yes.. poor Elsa, getting blamed for everything! She got extra cuddles in the meantime. She's been such a good girl. Everyone still steers clear, but she's no longer on the rampage!Well - did you apologize Elsa
Yay Pebbles! So smart!
I don’t have much Silkie related going on right now! I have been so focused on all my other chickens that they’ve been sort of under the radar. Betty and Fuzzy came out from their broody box for a bit today, but not for long. They’re so funny when they leave the box…they both run around squawking and eating and drinking and peck at those in their way…and then back to the box!I feel like they’re saying “Outta my way!! I got food to eat and water to drink before those babies get cold! Move! Don’t bother me I have important business!”
The way they sort of seem frantic just makes me giggle
Molly and Ally (bantam Cochins) have opted to join them a few times…it’s really quite adorable
Sia and Cher have been steadily growing more confident and both now leave the coop on their own! I still have to put them to bed thoughI thought they might follow Elsafish’s lead at night, but nope. All four of the tiny birds huddle in a corner under my Agapanthus plants at night time instead of going into the coop. Elsafish is much more confident and knows the deal. We’ve been at this whole thing for a while now! Haha. I have even trimmed their head feathers twice! They’re very unsure of the ramp…I’m guessing ramps were not a thing in their first coop! Millie and Bella seem confused by the ramp too…going down is okay now but up is apparently very difficult!
And my Polish eggs are looking good so far! Looks like all 6 Tolbunt are developing and one of the Candy corn eggs. They are at Day 12 now! And the d’Uccles are at Day 10 and 5 of the 14 shipped eggs look good. So if all goes well I’ll have 12 beebies by March 8. One of the d’Uccles seems behind the other in development so hopefully it catches up!
I'm not sure about this one... Looks like a girl, about 5 months old. Hatched 5th October.
Named Skit/z - super skittish, won't come near me, bolts away like I'm a monster going to eat him/her.
Hard to get pics coz Skit runs away, but I can try get more later today.. I think girl .. but that would mean all 5 I had around this hatch time (between 2 broodies) are all pullets so that's impossible! What do you guys think?

More pics... Might have to zoom in, Skitz will not allow me near him/her.. maybe if a girl when she starts laying will calm down a little otherwise I'll sell her, I don't want skittish genes in my flock. Although I do want more clean face Silkies as they are better at seeing for predators when foraging.View attachment 3006760

Darn!! Well.. it isn't a total surprise.. I just like him so so much, hes sooo sweet, and i was hoping to take him off the possible future rehome list. Hes such a little sack of feathers, lets me just pick him up any time i want! That darker color (a lot of paint breeders refer to it as khaki leakage) is very very common in paint boys (the majority have at least some).

PreciousMy little silkie babies that I got last week are doing great! Very active littles!!! They are so cute when they all pile on top of each other in a sleep pile! I have a stock tub that I'm keeping them in on one side and some 4 week olds on the other so I divided it with a shirt like a curtain. The little babies love it! They all want to sleep on the soft cozy blanket!!!![]()

I, too think (s)he is a Barney - the legs look 'long' and look like having an 'angle' and the feet/legs are exactly feathered like my four boys' were at that age (James, who is much smaller, is anatomically different than the four, he does have short legs, no 'angle'; all the girls do have no 'angle').Ok.. so now im second guessing Barney afterall.. what are your thoughts? 12 weeks old as of today.
