Did you post an ad on craigslist for him or something similar? With really great photos? It did take me one time two months to sell one of my cockerels.🤔
Yeah I did and even created a fb page for rehoming purposes and still nothing...not sure if it's cuz he's a cockrel or a satin or both.

Oh cutesy babies! This will be neat to see grow out!
right? Here they are now at a month, the red one is a roo 🤣

So I sent DNA testing out 8 days ago on the little Hanabi baby as well as the fluffiest, lightest blue Silkie chick which is my daughter’s favorite.
Used the eggshell for the Cochin cross as I was able to see it hatch and tried for the first time using blood from a clipped toenail on the Silkie. This one hatched early in the morning and I did not witness the hatch, so I wasn’t sure which eggshell it came out of.
Both are female! So happy and of course we are keeping them now! 🥰

I really love IQ Bird Testing if anybody wants to do DNA testing at some point.
I have now tried all three methods; feathers, eggshell and now blood. They have a fairly quick turnaround time and excellent customer service. They did raise their prices recently, so only really worth it to do on birds you are planning to keep.😊View attachment 3041654

Oh that is wonderful they are both girls! ❤️

Aww that is too bad. I have a terrible time finding boys homes too. It can take months sometimes. Grayson is the columbian colored boy? He really is pretty and a harder to find color too! To the right person I'd think he'd be quite valued. If you haven't had him posted for too long yet maybe someone will come along soon that can recognize he is a nice find. :fl

Aww they are lovely! Good luck finding some homes for them if you do decide to sell. 😊

I’m probably going to keep them, but I’m sellijg my RSLs since they attacked the babies, well tried to and then ended up clawing my hands to nothing, the bastards

. We'd have about a third less of the number we do now if boys were easier to rehome. 😣

maybe you should start butchering the excess roos. it is the hardest thing about keeping chickens and I am still struggling. a lot of people who take roos for free just eat them. if you invested in them then you should eat them. silkie meat has a lot of health benefits and make a good soup.

Oh yay! I might look into this with my next batch of chicks that hatch. I HATE getting attached and then having to rehome them…so maybe if I can be ahead of the curve…I can avoid the heartache 😩 Especially with the d’Anvers! But bantam EEs are gonna be tiny floofers too. Ugh! 😆 I’m already super attached to my d’Uccles chicks and my Polish babies! The Polish babies are so much tougher to guess the gender on—they are way more like silkies. There are very few indicators until later and by later I love them all 😩 They are all exceptionally friendly and chill and not at all spastic like my last batch of chicks were, so personalities aren’t helping either 😆 Anyway, I’m off topic now so I’ll stop rambling haha.
