Yall I got a question...now that the weather is warming up (for the most part)
Do you think it is OK to leave my coop door open all night? It is completely secure. My concern is possible drafts with the coop door being down low.
The babies still aren't using the roost bars. I'm working with em but really wonder of I placed it too high. They get inside the coop and NEVER look up lol! Of course they got all that has fluff and I hate to cut it again after my last botch job on Josie.
I have one thats about 4" wide, and only sits about 1½" off the ground.. if i put it in the corner they favor, they'll use it. I have another one just about 1' above, and they don't. But what's funny is one of the new Polish and the polkie will also opt for the floor when they do. I don't think it's that big of a deal if they're on the floor though, i rake it out a couple times a week, so they're fine.

Yeah I don't mind em being on the floor (it's a temporary fix) I just help the girls up onto it so they can escape the boys for some peace lol. The boys haven't looked up!
But it doesn't do much good if silly Josie jumps down after I shut the door lol!
Pretty sure my 100+ year old roosts bars from our 1800s first church before they destroyed it are tad bit too narrow.
My other problem is I have got to get windows cut out of this new coop for the warmer weather! Scared to death of messing my coop up like I collapsed my run!

I used a free pallet to make a seat for the front of the coop, a few chickies jumped up and had a sit with me and Puff did too. Inspector Biscuit approves, I think ☺️ .. it is a little broken on some parts but still feels stable when I sat on it so it will be fine ☺️
Next project is to make awnings so there is permanent ventilation throughout the year, now I just have it open at the top half of the coop on 2 sides but when it starts getting cold and wet I'll need to cover the open sides but still have airflow.

Lockdown here (day 18) for the big batch of eggs. The 37 remaining are all looking good. Here's hoping for a good/easy hatch without too many malpositions. :fl
