Tonight is the full moon.

Every night my boys crow. They have to check in I guess. "It's 1am and all is well!" After everyone checks in from their pen, they are quiet again.

Wow, I'm glad mines not too bad! Sometimes on the brighter early mornings he'll have the occasional crow if light comes through the ventilation gaps. Luckily his crow isn't too loud.

I thought the same thing! DH got up to double check but nope, just the moon. I didn't hear any of my boys overnight, but I sure through anything so it doesn't matter lol

It was super bright! I sleep through anything too but our neighbors don't unfortunately :lau

Wow nice pictures on there! :D

I love my prefab coop for my silkie and her babies! I brought an extension and it came with predator mesh for underneath. But our biggest predators a fox, I'm sure it wouldn't keep bigger critters out

Yes... prefabs work wonderfully for broodies and grow outs. :wee

Also with you both that prefabs are good for broodies and growouts!

I use altered rabbit hutches that are stacked for my broodies which work wonderfully in the space I have.

I'm getting this prefab for the growouts which seems half decent and is a 'reasonable' size for them.

Then I have my main coop which I got built with high quality wood, got a window put in it, lighting and it's big enough for me to walk around in myself.

Yes!! I did actually look at buying a prefab walk around, but the cheaper ones only had a height of 1.5m, and I'm 1.64m tall. But I have since discovered a company that makes 5 star prefabs, that uses beautiful heavy timber, has auto opening doors, reinforced mesh, covers for winter etc and excuse me while I go drool over them again :drool. But yes the little prefabs are spot on for growing out bubbas

Haha yes the majority of 'walk in' prefabs over here only reach up to my shoulders...that's never going to work in the long term :lau hence why I got one made by a timber specialist instead and he made it to exactly how I wanted it. It's about 7ft tall!

I don't have an auto shutting door as it wasn't really purpose worthy for me. I go out every night to rake the substrate in the run so when I do that I shut their coop door. They also have a carpet square cut to fit their window as a curtain :gig

I would recommend getting one of those specially built coop and runs for your main flock but always have a prefab or two for Broodies and growouts :D
