I got two older Silky chicks for my granddaughter, a buff and a black. The buff chick is very friendly but I need to work more with the black chick. I'm hoping they're both hens as I'm not supposed to have roosters where I live..

How old are they? You can try posting photos, either here or under the "what breed or gender is this" forum and get some help figuring it out.

I have 2 girls laying. Maybe 3. The rest are to young or molting. Lol but I'd love to set eggs to hatch on my daughters birthday the 13th! I suppose I could set some of my layers eggs

I had to hatch out layers because the incubator itch was too strong!

But I have 15 chicks coming in April for my layer flock. So I dont really need more layers. Shame my silkies are all slacking.

ha ha...I swear it is an addiction, right? I just got an incubator for christmas....but ordered some Silkie hatching eggs so I could get the best of both worlds. My plan is to use the Silkies I hatch THIS spring as broody mamas for chicks NEXT spring. Of course, I'm certain that I will still end up ordering hatching eggs from SOMEWHERE just because it is so much fun.
