ha ha...I swear it is an addiction, right? I just got an incubator for christmas....but ordered some Silkie hatching eggs so I could get the best of both worlds. My plan is to use the Silkies I hatch THIS spring as broody mamas for chicks NEXT spring. Of course, I'm certain that I will still end up ordering hatching eggs from SOMEWHERE just because it is so much fun.
Totally!

I have 2 girls laying. Maybe 3. The rest are to young or molting. Lol 😆 but I'd love to set eggs to hatch on my daughters birthday the 13th! I suppose I could set some of my layers eggs 🤔🤷‍♀️
What a great birthday present!
Join the hatch-along! @PioneerChicks is hosting. I was thinking a Valentine's Day hatch would be fun, I will see if I have enough eggs by Sunday to set. All 3 silkie girls are laying again (after 2 went broody back to back). I was going to let them hatch, but that did not work out, so going the incubator route this time. 😊

It is totally addictive!🥰

I was excited to see what I would hatch out of my girls. I have my paint rooster. The eggs come from a black hen, a blue partridge hen and my paint hen. I'd love if one of my paints was a blue paint! I haven't got to inspect it that close. It's about 30 degrees out so I try not to move them from mom more than a min. Yeah my hen decided to brood chicks in the middle of our lovely Ohio winter!

Majority of my silkie flock. There is one silkie/sultan cross and a silkie frizzle too.
