Any thoughts on when I might be able to start guessing the sex of my silkie chicks? They are ten weeks old now. I’m mainly hoping my satin splash, I’ve named The Madalorihen, is actually a hen. I’ve gotten very attached to her and can’t keep roosters. The other three are awesome too, but I’m not as attached and wouldn’t be as sad to have to find them new homes. I know the only sure fire way to know is to have it crow or lay.

I always wait until 18 weeks old.

I find my boys usually grow streamers in between 9-12 weeks. Some lines are slower maturing than others and may not develop any for awhile longer. Before the streamers come in the combs have been the best indicator for me but sometimes girls can trick you so I like to wait for the streamers before judging too much. It may still be a bit early but if you wanted to post some comb pictures and a profile picture of each I'm sure you'd get some opinions on what sex they might be or if you need to wait awhile longer to judge. :)

That being said streamers don't always 100% indicate a male but I'd say probably 99% of the time they do as it is fairly uncommon for females to grow streamers.

Here are a few pictures I took this morning. Don’t have pics of the others separate, just some group shots. Any thoughts are appreciated.
