I've never been apart of a group hatch! I might have to join your's depending on when I get the eggs started! I'm really excited because I have NO idea what colors I will get!
The hatch alongs are based on which month you expect your eggs to hatch. They will then usually start around 3 weeks before. Different people host them. I hosted one in December. There are often several different ones going on at the same time. There are also official ones, like the Halloween and Easter hatch-alongs. You can join any one of them you want and also be on several at the same time if you want, too. I only stay on one at a time, as it otherwise gets confusing.
You can find them under the forum, incubating and hatching eggs and the the subheading hatch-alongs. 😊

Thank you! I am planning on doing the easter hatch a long

Alright ladies, I've got some sad news and some questions. I have just figured out that my GORGEOUS red pyle silkie is a rooster. I already have 2 roosters and now I have 3 over 7 hens. Needless to say, I need to get rid of 1 of them. I have a Blue, White, and now Red Pyle roosters. My hens are Buff, Splash, Black, White, Silver Partridge, and I'm looking to add other partridge and paints. Which 2 of the three roos would you keep for the prettiest chicks?

Depends on what you are trying to do. If you keep your white and blue, you are most likely to get mostly standard colors. As red pyle is not a recognized color, you will likely get all kinds of colors with that one, likely with leakage.
You can also choose to keep the ones you like best, no matter the color. I kept my white cockerel, though genetically speaking, should have kept the blue or splash, but he was the sweetest.😊

How many silkies would you say, would fit in a 5x8 coop?

I'm so excited! I think I only got 2 cockerels out of 7 hatch! They are 3 months old now and I sold my single comb cockerel and I think I only have 1 cockerel left out of the others!! He's so cute I have to keep him!! He has a full crest looking like a female and no streamers but he's bigger in size overall and a larger comb .. And I have one with red leakage that is probably a girl!! .. this is pic of my possible cockerel...Isn't he so cute!!? He's so friendly too, follows me everywhere and always under my feet when I'm weeding.

And coz I love red leakage I'll add a pic of my cockerel in my other coop..

Depends on how big your run is and if birds get along and how much time they will spend in there. For the smaller silkies, MINIMUM 3 sq. ft each bird, bigger better. A 5 x 6 coop is 30 sq. feet, so 10 birds. 😊
I would say MINUMUM 5 sq. ft in the run, more is better there.
They are in the run except laying and sleeping. It's a 20x20 run
